Colorado Belle in Laughlin to Remain Closed Indefinitely
The iconic Colorado Belle hotel-casino on the Colorado River in Laughlin will be closed indefinitely.
All 400 workers will be laid off. The owners, Golden Entertainment Inc publicly acknowledged the closure Monday, although employees were notified Thursday. In a letter to employees it was announced the Colorado Belle would not reopen when Governor Steve Sisolak gives the go-ahead for casinos in Nevada to reopen.
Some employees will be given the opportunity to transfer to other Golden Gaming properties including the Edgewater and Aquarius in Laughlin or it’s Pahrump or Las Vegas operations. Golden also owns the PT’s Tavern and Sierra Gold chains. Employee’s health care benefits will last until the end of May.
“Once we are allowed to open our other Nevada properties, we will have a better sense of the open positions available across the company,” Charles Protell, president and chief financial officer of Golden, said in an email.
