Freestyle Explosion Throwback jam happened at the Orleans Arena on June 10, and it was a night of electrifying music and amazing voices.
The lineup sparkled with our favorite hip-hop and freestyle artists.
Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, Taylor Dayne, Pretty Poison, Debbie Deb, Rob Base, Tone Loc, Young MC, 69 Boyz and MC Shy D all performed to make this a showcase of the music that we know and love.
Pretty Poison opened with an explosive performance with her fabulous dancers and amazing theatrics. MC Shy D allowed his unfiltered thoughts break through his lyrics and melodies. He was a full package to watch with a sprinkle of comedic elements interjected throughout his performance.
Freestyle also performed their smash hits like “it’s Automatic,” and “The Party Has Just Begun.”
Young MC showcased his raw talent with his staccato-like lyrics that punched you with groove and bass. And then the 69 Boyz electrified the stage with their fun dance moves that washed the crowd in a wave of pure joy. Their set was energetic and colorful with high intensity and great music.
Debbie Deb sashayed on stage with a beautiful black gown that draped to her ankles. She sang her smash hits that we know and love like “Look Out Weekend,” “When I Hear Music,” and “There’s A Party Going On.”
Tone Loc went wild and left no crumbs behind. He even got a few ladies on stage to dance and sing to his songs. Rob Base gave an equally exciting performance that left the crowd vying for more.
When Taylor Dayne performed, we were all taken back to simpler times. Times of our first love, our first club night and other core memories. She was amazing and sang her heart out with a beautiful stage set that showered her in gold glitter lights that bounced off her bombshell blonde hair.
When Lisa Lisa came on stage, she commanded the room with her beautiful chorography, killer coordinating outfits and a voice that you could feel in your soul
Lisa Lisa’s performance is always an experience that leaves you dazzling with a smile.
To end the night, Stevie B closed out the concert with an amazing discography that was the perfect night cap to the show. He took us back to a time of mullets, electric-colored clothes and simpler times. But, he also connected his music with today’s time, allowing the audience to savor the past and present for just a few moments.
The Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam was a night of pure happiness and great memories. This concert is always fun to attend and host. Long live Freestyle Music! Big thanks to Pacific Concert Group for allowing DJ Thump, Picazzo and Zenja to host the show. We also want to thank YOU — our listeners — for attending the show and partying all night with us!
