The lineup for this year’s Lovers & Friends reads like a fantasy all-star musical roster with headliners Usher, Missy Elliott, and Mariah Carey taking over the Festival Grounds on May 6.
This sold-out event is sure to be one for the history books with performers and fans coming into Las Vegas from all around the world.
Saturday’s all day event is enough to wipe out any seasoned festival-goer but for you party professionals looking to stuff as much as humanly possible into one weekend, there’s the RnB Block Party happening Friday night, May 5 at the Cosmopolitan. It’s the official Lovers & Friends pre-party featuring a DJ set from Jermaine Dupri.
Jermaine Dupri has been in the music business practically his entire life. He formed the group Kris Kross in 1990 writing and producing their huge radio hits “Jump Jump” and “Warm It Up”.
After launching his own record label So So Def in 1993, JD signed the all-girl group Xscape best known for their songs “Just Kickin’ It” and “Love On My Mind”. Dupri found success throughout the ’90s working with a number of artists including Usher and Mariah Carey which carried into the 2000’s having co-written and co-produced songs for both acts.
Jermaine Dupri was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2018.
With enough songwriting and production credits to rival the biggest producers in the industry, Jermaine Dupri has been responsible for some of the hottest radio and nightclub jams over the last few decades.
In anticipation of JD taking the stage at the Chelsea inside the Cosmopolitan on May 5 with a live DJ set, check out some of his most notable contributions to get you up and dancing.
The uptempo ‘ReMarqable Remix’ of “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge is celebrating its 23rd anniversary this month and has been one of Jermaine Dupri‘s biggest anthems. Watch below:
