The Las Vegas Motor Speedway was taken over this past weekend (March 24-26) by dozens of food vendors selling everything from Deep Fried Alligator and Frog Legs to Grilled Maine Lobsters. The three-day culinary event is known as ‘Foodieland‘ and offers a little something for everyone.

When I arrived Saturday afternoon and saw the massive line of people I thought it would take forever to get into the venue but kudos to the staff who herded us in swiftly like the hungry hungry hippos we all are. Once you walk through those gates you’re faced with one of biggest decisions of your life… where to start!?

With lines at nearly ever food vendor’s tent, you’re sure to invest at least a solid twenty minutes to get your order so you better be sure on what you pick. What makes the decision even harder is all of the people walking around you with their plates of Elote (Mexican Corn), Jalapeno Grilled Cheese with Bacon Bits, Korean BBQ Chicken Skewers, and those Fried Potato Swirls on a stick.

I ended up trying Ghostix which puts a spin on my favorite fair food (corndogs). The ‘Goblin‘ is their potato-covered corndog and the ‘Gizmo‘ is their elote corndog covered in sweet corn and sauce.

I played it safe and washed it down with a ‘normal’ beverage because there was no way I could ever finish one of those enormous ‘Baby Bottles‘ or huge animal jugs filled with what must be at least 60 ounces of sweetness.

The only suggestion I would provide would be to have the vendors offer smaller portions and ‘samples’ at lower price-points to allow guests the opportunity try more offerings rather than fill-up on one or two $14-$21 items. Also, there was very limited seating available to sit down and enjoy your food for the number of attendees.

Other than that, I thought it was a great event for the city and enjoyed my time there. If you missed it this past weekend, I highly recommend you grab your friends and family and head out there next weekend. Bon appetite!
