Actress Jenifer Lewis confirmed that she was the victim of a scam where she got bilked out of $50,000 by the manager of she gym she frequented. The man, Antonio Mariot Wilson pleaded guilty last Friday to federal wire fraud charges. He not only scammed Ms. Lewis but also three other woman out of a total of $387,000. Ms. Lewis stated that she had gotten involved in a romantic relationship with Wilson, who convinced her that he was starting a new film project and that he had previously won an Oscar. Ms. Lewis said that Wilson had researched her on the internet and knew all of her “ins and outs.” Wilson also was involved in relationships with three other women that he convinced to invest in businesses that he was purportedly starting. Wilson had previously served jail time for tax evasion and wire fraud and could get up to 20 years in prison. Ms. Lewis for her part sued the gym and settled out of court for $13,000.
