Destiny’s Child Serves As Inspiration For Sandee Bonita’s Good Words
Coming back from a refreshed break is a true reset for me both mentally and physically. I come back to work feeling like I can take on any challenge and have the wisdom to be dismissive towards of non-important situations that cannot add any value to my growth.
This past weekend, my friends and I decided to take an impromptu day trip. I am truly blessed to have an amazing circle in my life who always reminds me of the importance of taking time for self-care.
By now, you are aware of the importance of music and how it inspires me to perform and live in a positive manner. I walked into the studio this morning, and Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women” was playing. Per usual, I started singing along to the song and then in the middle of the chorus I heard the words I need to set the tone for the week: “I depend on me!”
Although the song is a ladies’ anthem, those lyrics can speak to anyone. If you want something, it’s up to YOU to get it. I was raised by a single father and that is something he always taught me. So remember, when you close your eyes and are expressing your gratitude, don’t forget to give yourself that pat on the back for taking care of yourself with independence.
