Solange to Compose NYC Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala

Solange is an entertainer with many talents and her newest venture should come as no surprise.

Essence reports the Grammy-winning singer will be composing New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala. Her work will be accompanied by a ballet choreographed by Gianna Reisen. The When I Get Home creator’s music will be performed by some of her collaborators and also members of the New York City Ballet Orchestra.

Solange and Reisen’s work will premiere on Wednesday, September 28, at New York’s Lincoln Center. Costumes featured in the piece are made by fashion designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo for Palomo Spain. The piece will be performed again on October 1, 8, 11, and 16 as well as May 2, 11, 13, 17, and 18.

  “What Happened To Virgil” is featured on Lil Durk’s 7220 which features DS4Ever rapper Gunna. The track pays homage to the late designer, Virgil Abloh. Abloh died on November 28, 2021 at 41 after a two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
