Knights Roll Into The Finals
Let’s be honest. We all started to feel a little antsy when after opening up a 3-0 lead over Dallas in the Western Conference finals our Vegas Golden Knights dropped two games in a row, pulling the Stars to within 3-2 with game six in Dallas.
Well, the Knights calmed all of our fears with a dominating and resounding 6-0 win on Sunday night in Dallas. With the win, Vegas advances to the Stanley Cup finals for the second time in six years.
The Knights jumped on the Stars early and often, quieting the Dallas crowd and leaving no doubt who was the better team.
William Carrier opened the scoring for the Knights only 3:41 into the game, with William Karlsson adding a power play goal seven minutes later to make it 2-0. Keegan Kolesar made it 3-0 four minutes later with a beautiful pass off the boards to Carrier who flipped it back to Kolesar who was speeding down the middle and fired it in. Jonathan Marchessault added a second period goal to make it 4-0.
Karlsson netted his second goal of the game two minutes into the third period and Michael Amadio finished the scoring for the Knights 12:25 into the period, sending a majority of the Dallas faithful heading for the exits. Adin Hill was once again outstanding in goal for Vegas, making 23 saves and posting his second shutout of the series.
After the traditional handshake line between the two teams at the end of the game, the Knights were presented with the Clarence S. Campbell trophy as the winners of the Western Conference finals. To a man and encouraged by Marchessault, the Knights refused to touch the trophy, instead posing with it in a group photo.
The Knights will open the Stanley Cup finals against the Florida Panthers, who swept Carolina to win the Eastern Conference. Vegas has home ice advantage so all the Knights need to do is win their home games and the Cup will come to Vegas.
Games one and two are set for this Saturday and next Monday at T-Mobile Arena with puck drop for both games at 5pm. Games three and four will be in Miami on Thursday, June 8 and Saturday, June 10.
We are not backing off of our prediction that the Knights are going to bring the Stanley Cup to Vegas…just win those home games baby and our Cup will runneth over!
