2023 BET Awards: Quavo & Offset Reunite For The First Time Since Takeoff’s Death
Quavo and Offset performed for the first time since the death of Takeoff at the 2023 BET Awards. The two began the performance with “Hotel Lobby,” the lead single from Quavo and Takeoff’s album Only Built for Infinity Links. The dark stage lit a spotlight in honor of Takeoff in between Quavo and Offset.
Besides “Hotel Lobby,” the two also performed the Migos classic “Bad and Boujee.”
Quavo and Offset had seemingly been at odds prior to Takeoff’s untimely death, when Offset unfollowed Takeoff and Quavo on social media in May 2022. Quavo and Takeoff took off and became a duo with Offset pursuing a solo career.
Quavo and Takeoff released Only Built for Infinity Links a month prior to Takeoff’s death in Houston on Nov. 1, 2022. His death happened in the early hours of Nov. 1 following a private party at 810 Billiards. Quavo was on the scene but was unhurt. Takeoff was shot in the head and torso, according to the coroner’s report, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Takeoff was not armed, and he was an innocent bystander when he was hit by gunfire.

His suspected killer, Patrick Xavier Clark, was formally charged with murder in the Migos rapper’s shooting death last month. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office informed local news outlet KHOU of the indictment.
In a three-page tribute, Qauvo said in part that his nephew had a “real passion” for music and that he was the one that created the triplet flow, which we know as the Migos signature sound. “I am proud to be ya uncle. I’m proud we saw the world and done things we couldn’t ever imagine together,” Quavo wrote.
Quavo also released songs “Without You,” and “Honey Bun,” in honor of Takeoff.
Offset also released a statement following Takeoff’s death writing in part, “I hope you can see how much we love you and miss you. You have left a hole in my heart that will never be filled. Give me strength, give your brothers strength, give your family strength. Even though I know you will always be with us, throw me a lil sign or a beautiful dream. I love you forever, 4L, and after. [rocket emoji] [red heart emoji].”
