Las Vegas Aces Come Back For Ninth Win A Row
The Las Vegas Aces beat the Dallas Wings last night in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Right from the tip-off, the game was intense, Jackie Young hit 28 points, A’ja Wilson added 22 points and 13 boards, Chelsea Gray added 20 points, 5 boards and 6 assist coming off of an illness.
As the game progressed, tensions rose, and the Wings fought back fiercely. They managed to outscore the Aces’ and lead by 4 at halftime.
During the third quarter, the Las Vegas Aces put their foot on the gas pedal and widening the gap, with a 13-4 run to tie he game at 55 all. Dallas scored the next 10 points.
Head coach Becky Hammon gifted the Wings with a freethrow with a technical foul. The Wings, refusing to back down, launched a furious comeback in the final quarter. They took advantage of some defensive lapses by the Aces, narrowing the margin to a single point. The atmosphere in the arena became electric. A’ja Wilson dominated the paint to help the Aces get their 9th straight victory in front of sell out crowd 0f 10,177 fans at the Michelob Ultra Arena.
Kiah Stokes made a fast break layup with a little over eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to give the defending champions it’s first lead, 70-69. The Aces went on a 11-0 run for an 83-76 lead with 3:41 left.
For the Wings, Natasha Howard scored a season high 32 points to go with 13 boards for Dallas. Teaira McCowan also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Arike Ogunbowale hit for 12 points and Crystal Dangerfield added 11 points. Satou Sabally scored 11 points in the first half but never returned to the game due to an illness. Dallas will get their chance for revenge this Friday at home as the Aces are 16-1 with one defeat on the road against the Connecticut Sun.
