This is Why Mariah Carey Doesn’t Have a Driver’s License
Mariah Carey hasn’t gotten behind the wheel in a very long time. The Queen of Christmas revealed during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show this week that her driver’s license expired seven years ago! Carey, 54, assured the host in Wednesday’s (November 15) episode, “I can drive. I was going to get my license ’cause I don’t have my license.” Shocked, Jennifer Hudson said she drives herself to work and asked, “You don’t have your license?” This prompted Carey to clarify that she did have a license but simply let it expire while she was living in New York City.
“You don’t really want to drive in Manhattan — well, I don’t,” the mother of two explained. “I don’t like driving in Manhattan.” After nearly a decade without driving, the “All I Want For Christmas” singer would have to retake the driving test. Hudson told Carey, “I don’t think I would pass if I took the test again. I’m with you!” However, Carey insisted she’s up for the challenge and assured the host that she was definitely “going to try and get the license again.”

However, that may take a while to do right away, as Carey’s Merry Christmas One and All! Tour has begun. As we previously reported, Carey’s North American Christmas tour spans 13 dates and will wrap up in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on December 17. She shared her top five touring essentials on the first day of her tour. She listed her twins Moroccan and Monroe and her dogs Chacha, Mutley, and Jill E. Beans.
Elsewhere in the interview, Hudson asked Carey what her most casual item of clothing in her closet was. Surprisingly, Carey admitted it is a pair of “hideous slides that someone made me purchase.” Another shocking revelation for the host, Carey declares that she never wears sneakers because they give her blisters on the back of her feet.
