DJ Khaled, Drake, & Lil Baby Drop New Song ‘Staying Alive’
DJ Khaled recruited Drake and Lil Baby for “Staying Alive” off of his upcoming album God Did. The Grammy-winning DJ dropped the visual where Drake, Lil Baby, and himself play as healthcare workers in a hospital.
“Staying Alive” samples the Bee Gees 1977 hit “Stayin’ Alive” and the Gibb brothers — Maurice, Barry, and Robin Gibb — are credited as composers on the We The Best DJ’s track.
Two days prior to the drop, the Miami-bred musician spoke to Timberland. He noted that he was blown away by Drake’s pen on the record.
“When Drake wrote that hook… there’s a reason why certain people are called ‘genius.’ This is when you understand that word, it’s called genius level,” Khaled said in a video posted to his Instagram, to which Timbaland replied, “The hook of the century.”
DJ Khaled and Drake are frequent collaborators after working together on several tracks including “No New Friends,” “Popstar,” “I’m On One,” “For Free,” and “Greece.”
Lil Baby and Drake also aren’t strangers in the studio as they’ve collaborated on “Yes Indeed,” “Never Recover,” “Wants and Needs” and “Girls Want Girls.”
God Did is set to drop 8/26.
