UNLV Football Off To 3-1 Start
Don’t look now but the UNLV Rebel football team is off to a 3-1 start this season! The Rebels are rejoicing after their 34-24 win last Saturday in Logan, Utah over Utah State. UNLV led by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter and basically dominated the game from start to finish.
UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo finally has the team playing up to his expectations after two painful seasons including going 2-10 last year.
Junior quarterback Doug Brumfield is leading the way this season. In the win over Utah State Brumfield was 21-31 passing for 217 yards and a TD and he also ran for two scores. The UNLV defense is playing superbly as well, forcing six turnovers against the Aggies. The Rebel defense has a total of ten turnovers on the season including nine interceptions.
Particularly encouraging is the fact that in it’s only loss this season on the road to Pac-12 school Cal, UNLV only lost by six points.
The fact that the Rebels are playing their home games now at Allegiant Stadium is something to consider as well as better athletes are now excited to come and play for the Scarlet and Gray.
UNLV’s next game is this Friday, Sept. 30 at Allegiant Stadium vs. New Mexico. No game is a given but UNLV could conceivably be 4-1 after that game. Go Rebels!!
