Las Vegas Black Film Festival Changing Lives
The 11th annual Las Vegas Black Film Festival is coming to town. Look out for it April 18th through the 21st at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino.
The Las Vegas Black Film Festival (LVBFF) is giving inspiring actors and actresses the platform to express their talents and gifts. From acting to screenwriting, video editing, and directing, the platform is available for you to make your dreams come true.
Las Vegas Black Film Festival Raising The Bar
As we know, Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world. Tourists come from all over to experience the shows here on the strip, the entertainment, and the concerts. There have been so many movies and videos filmed here in the valley it’s a wonder why there has been very little exposure for Vegas locals. According to castingnetworks.com “Las Vegas offers a slightly smaller pond for actors to get work, from live shows to film productions.”
Las Vegas Has Talent
Las Vegas is full of talented people who can light up a big screen. What people fail to realize is that there is a lot of talent that came out ofĀ Vegas. From R&B singer and songwriter Ne-Yo, the lovely ladies of the R&B group 702, and actor Lance Gross who is originally from Oakland, CA. He also graduated from Bonanza High School right here in the “seven oh two.”
That’s just to name a few. The Las Vegas Black Film Festival has given birth to many inspiring actors and actresses, providing them with the tools to take their careers to larger markets in the world by educating them through the actors workshops provided in the four-day festival.
The Las Vegas Black Film Festival Has Much To Offer To Locals
This year marks the 11th annual Las Vegas black film festival, happening April 18th through the 21st. I had a chance to speak with the founder, Ms. Michelle Payne, who has worked with some great actors, including John Amos.

Ms. Michelle says, she is excited about this year’s Film Festival held at the beautiful Sun Coast Hotel and Casino located at 9090 Alta Drive Las Vegas, Nevada 89145.
“Opening Night” is the selected movie that has been nominated to premiere on the opening day for the LVBFF. Followed by a fashion show with a meet and greet of other producers, filmmakers, actors, and actresses.
There’s an orange carpet on Friday, and according to Ms. Michelle,” It’s like our very own Oscar night.” This year she’ll be premiering her new film, “Hide And Go Get It”.
The Actors Showdown
The Actors Showdown is a fun way for an aspiring actor to get cast in one of the movies that is featured in the Las Vegas Black Film Festival.
The actor’s showdown is one of the highlights of the festival. It’s where actors climb into a boxing ring and perform a three-minute or less monologue that will judged by professional actors and other panelists of their peers. The winner will receive a major role in Ms. Michelle’s next movie, a cash prize, a trophy, and bragging rights as the Heavyweight Showdown Champion.
This film festival is definitely adding to the landscape of Las Vegas, giving inspiring actors and actresses the platform to develop their skills and move on to do better things. I’m so excited for Vegas to be transformed from Sin City to a Win City.
Vegas offers winning sports teams to the big game that just happened here, to
the first black-owned theater in town. We are on the map, and this Las Vegas Black Film Festival is truly putting the icing on the cake.
