Troubled Rapper Trey Songz Wants Default Judgment Tossed

If you get sued, you need to respond to the complaint. If you don't, you could face a "default judgment" which is essentially "you lose, they get what they asked for." Trey Songz is learning that first hand after being handed down a massive $11.2 million default judgment for not responding to a civil suit following a fight and allegedly holding a woman against her will in 2021. Lawyers for Tremaine Neverson (that's Trey Songz legal name) claim that he never had any clue about the civil case against him. In the motion to the court, Trey Songz lawyers claim he was totally caught off-guard by the judgment and that he didn't know about the civil case in the first place until after articles came out announcing the judgment. Only One Problem: Trey Songz Lawyer Was Told About It According to 8 News Now, a reporter actually reached out to Trey's lawyer back in October 2023. When the reporter emailed his lawyer and asked about the lawsuit, to which his lawyer responded "no comment." While that isn't clear evidence that Trey Songz knew, his representation was told. His lawyers argue that Trey Songz himself was never served with papers, therefore it doesn't clear the barrier of Nevada or California law. No word as to whether or not this argument will work. The civil case revolves around an incident in November 2021. A man named Tyrelle Dunn allegedly approached Trey's hotel room as he believed that his wife was in the room. He claims he heard her screaming inside, and the wife claims she was assaulted when she walked into the room and her phone was taken away. It gets murky here. Trey Songz claims he was defending himself from Dunn, the husband. What happened with his security guards outside of his view was unknown by him. Trey claims the entire situation was an orchestrated setup by Dunn. Trey's Vegas Case Is One Of Many He's Been Hit With To say Trey Songz has had issues in the past would be putting it lightly. He's been accused of rape by a former UNLV basketball player, sexual assault by a woman at his house, exposing the breasts of a woman in front of her co-workers, sexual assault and battery at a club in Miami, hitting a photographer and cop with a microphone during a concert and more. Needless to say, the "Bottoms Up" singer has his work cut out for him.
