Electric Daisy Carnival, also known as EDC, is this weekend, which means Las Vegas is about to transform into a raver’s paradise.

EDC is an experience to say the least. Being under the “electric sky” is a feeling that many of us can’t fully describe. What started off as a small warehouse party in 1997 Los Angeles has grown into an empire and behemoth when it comes to dance music festivals. Now, EDC is a brand in itself and has become one of the most well-recognized music festivals.

Thousands of people will flock to Las Vegas this weekend, excited to spend a few nights dancing, listening to the pulsating music to accompany the visual aspects of the festival.

This festival is one of the largest in North America with other cities and countries also hosting EDC. However, we’re bias and will fully admit that Vegas is the best EDC. This multi-day festival pushes “the boundaries of imagination, and setting standards in the live entertainment industry. By incorporating carnival themes and attractions.”

This festival is more than just a music festival. But, it gives attendees a multi-sensory experience that leaves jaws dropped and creates forever memories.

The foundation of the festival is built on unity, love and expression. The philosophy of the festival is “All Are Welcome Here.”

In an interview with KTNV, Pasquale Rotella — CEO and founder of the festival’s organization Insomniac Events — said that five out of the 14 stages are brand new. One of the most exciting stages is called “Kinetic Fields” and this year’s theme is focused around “kinetic awakening.”

The company Insomniac is also celebrating its 30 year anniversary, making this year a full celebration.

Now, we’re painting this rosy colored picture of EDC. But let us say that spending a weekend at EDC isn’t for the weak. For many, attending this festival takes months of preparation when it comes to outfits, transportation, travel and even mental stability.

To help you navigate EDC, we have compiled a must-read list of things you should pack, prepare and plan for.

If you’re going to EDC, be safe and have a great time.

  • Portable Phone Chargers

Trust us when we say that portable phone chargers are necessary. If you plan to be at the festival all night then your phone WILL die. We even recommend packing a portable charger for every person in your rave group. But, try to live in the moment and don’t drain your phone’s battery. Use your phone when you NEED it.

  • Portable electric fan or a cute hand-held one will work. too

A portable fan will save you. After shuffling for HOURS, a portable fan will feel amazing. The forecast for this weekend predicts the temperature to be in the mid-90s. So, this fan may come in handy.

  • Emergency Blanket

Yes. It’s hot when the sun is out. But, as Vegas locals, we know the wind is no joke — especially at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This blanket can come in handy if you plan on wearing minimal clothing at EDC. Sometimes, the temps can drop at night, making the rave to be less enjoyable when you’re shivering for life.

  • Vitamins and Allergy Medicine

This weekend will deplete your energy. Start taking Vitamin C NOW! Drink a daily packet of Emergen-C leading up to the festival. This will help give your immune system a little boost. Also, be sure to pack other supplements like hydration packets, 5-HTP, and magnesium, which are essential supplements for ravers.

We also recommend taking some Claritin or other allergy medicine because the dust can be pretty gnarly at the rave.

  • Plan meeting points with your group

A rookie mistake when it comes to EDC is thinking that there will be cell service. Once you get to the Motor Speedway, cell service is non-existent. Be sure to have set times and meeting points with your group. Just be sure that everyone is on the same page in case you get lost.

  • Wet Wipes

Bring some SEALED wet wipes and thank us later. From bathroom runs to other uses, these will be a godsend.

  • Sealed sunscreen

The desert sun is no joke. Be sure to bring SEALED sunscreen and SEALED lip balm with some SPF. Ensure your EDC is sun-burn free. You’ll be sore from the sheer amount of walking and standing you’ll have to do. Don’t add a sunburn to this achy equation.

  • Don't Plan On Using Uber or Lyft

Travel - EDC Las Vegas 2024

We've got all your EDC travel needs covered: shuttles, driving directions, parking, hotels-even helicopter transport!

Whatever you do, don’t bet on Uber or Lyft as your main mode of transportation. It may be OK to use when getting to the festival. But, once the festival is over for the day, the path to leave the festival can be quite miserable and grid-locked. Sometimes, it takes hours just to leave the festival’s parking lot due to the rush of people who are also trying to leave. I mean, the logistics speak for themselves: It’s a traffic nightmare. We recommend renting a car OR scouring Facebook communities for a shuttle pass that you can buy. You probably won’t get cell service for any ride share apps, and most drivers won’t even venture out to the speedway.

  • At The End Of The Day: Comfort Is King

Sole inserts for comfort If you’re a fashion lover then we know that EDC can be a time to “show out” with your favorite and meticulously put-together rave outfit. However, maybe you can take some good photos in those high platform heels rather than planning to wear them for hours at the festival. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Once you get to EDC, it’s hard to leave. Your feet being in gel-heaven with some inserts could save you from sore feet.

  • Be Safe!

EDC Las Vegas | May 17-19, 2024 | Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Buy tickets to the festival, get camping info, learn all about EDC Las Vegas, and explore the world of Electric Daisy Carnival-the music, the rides, and the art.

STAY HYDRATED AND BRING A HYDRATION BACKPACK! You must stay hydrated during EDC. Also, use common sense and be smart. It’s a hectic weekend in Las Vegas, and the crowds at EDC can be quite a lot to deal with. Just be sure to use your common sense and don’t do anything to make this fun event into a dangerous once. Be aware of your surroundings and the nearest exits. Have a plan with your group in case you guys split up. Meet new people, but don’t be too trusting. And most importantly: Be safe.
