Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued an emergency directive Wednesday, making face masks mandatory in Nevada whenever someone is in a public space.
The mandate becomes effective at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 25. The governor announced the initiative during a Wednesday press conference from Carson City.
There are no civil or criminal penalties for people who do not wear masks in public, but businesses could face OSHA fines for not following the directive.
There are exemptions for people with certain medical conditions, disabilities and children between the ages of 2 and 9.
