The Las Vegas Strip Welcomes A New Speakeasy Bar
Get ready Las Vegas! A hot new bar just opened up on The Strip, and we’re ready to experience all of its curiosities.
This new bar isn’t a regular watering hole. It’s an exclusive speakeasy, alluring and catering toward those who love fine spirits and cocktails.
The term speakeasy emerged in the United States during the 1880’s referring to an establishment that sold alcohol without a license.
As the legend tells, Kate Hester who ran a saloon in McKeesport, Pennsylvania during that time would constantly tell her customers to “speak easy” so as to avoid attention from the authorities, according to the Pittsburg Post-Gazette.
Different names for speakeasies were created in the 19th century such as “blind pig” and “blind tiger”. In an attempt to circumvent the law back then, saloon owners would charge customers a fee to see an attraction and then serve them a “free” alcoholic drink.
Las Vegas‘ newest speakeasy-themed bar pays homage to those days with a visual attraction of its own launching The Cabinet of Curiosities Lounge.
As Mackenzie Rollinson told Fox 5, The Cabinet of Curiosities Lounge brings “all of the world to you in little moments and oddities with story telling.”
Located on the first floor of Bally’s Las Vegas, this is where you can enjoy your favorite cocktail and solve puzzles at the same time.
Each cabinet is filled with objects from around the world. You will be able to see them all up close, and some of them have their own tales to tell too, according to Fox 5. This is the perfect place for date night or even showing your out-of-town friends what Vegas has to offer. This cozy spot is now open, so you can enjoy all of its mystery and more.
