World’s Largest Pizza Record Has Been Broken; See How Big
When you think World’s Largest Pizza what comes to mind? If you thought of a scrumptious pie from a local chain pizza shop you might not be too far off. Let us explain.
According to Guinness World Records, the “World’s Largest Pizza” was set by Dovilio Nardi, Andrea Mannocchi, Marco Nardi, Matteo Nardi and Matteo Giannotte on December 13, 2012. The giant pizza measured a whopping surface area of 1,261.65 squared meters. Guinness World Records state the pizza was named Ottavia in recognition of the first Roman emperor, Octavian Augustus. An honorable, large and tasty looking pizza to say the least.
The Roma pizza better move over as there is a new doughy mega pie that has broken the world record!
Pie giant, Pizza Hut, teamed up with YouTuber, known as the Mafia Boss and Sauce Boss, Eric “Airrack” Decker, to kick off the return of the legend “The Big New Yorker.” For those who don’t know, “The Big New Yorker” is a 16 inch New York style pie with six big foldable slices.
Stay alert as the release day will be coming up very soon. Pizza Hut’s website says the iconic pizza comes out January 31 but a representative on their Instagram replied to a fan saying February 1. Despite the day, pizza-fans are very very excited!
Normal T.V. commercials and door hangers to spread the message wasn’t enough for the Hut. On January 18, 2023, “The World’s Largest Pizza Party” came into play at the Youtube Theater in Inglewood, California. Pizza Hut, Airrack and a huge staff of people built a pizza with a surface area of almost 14,000 square feet.
Ingredients Used To Create The Pizza:
- 13,653 pounds of dough
- 4,948 pounds of marina sauce
- 8,800 pounds of cheese
- Approximately 630,496 pepperonis
The pizza did not go to waste. The remainder (68,000 slices) from the pizza party was donated to food banks and charities across Los Angeles.
As Pizza Hut always says, “No one outpizzas the hut.”
