Las Vegas Aces Burned The Sun Again
The Las Vegas Aces are still undefeated, after a very back and forth battle against the Connecticut Sun. This was the first meeting of the two teams since the Aces beat the Sun 78-71 in Game 4 of the Finals last September to win the WNBA title.
I guess the plan was to come out shooting 3’s against the defending champions… Bad idea as the Sun shot just 31% in the first half and made just two of their 14 attempts from 3-point range. They finished 10 of 26 from behind the arc and shooting 41% from the floor.
On the other hand, The Las Vegas Aces came to take care of business. They have scored at least 90 points in 6 of their 7 games this season.
And the Aces started the game firing on all cylinders. A’Ja Wilson scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Jackie Young added 22 points for Vegas, which led by as many as 19 points. Connecticut finally woke up late outscoring the Aces 31 -20 in the 4th quarter. Kelsey Plum had 17 points and Chelsea Gray added 14.
Rebecca Allen scored 22 points for the Sun, hitting five of her six 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Brionna Jones added 15 points and Alyssa Thomas had her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for the Eastern Conference leaders, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Each team will have one day off before doing a rematch of the rematch on the same floor.
Las Vegas Aces improve to 7-0 to start a season for the first time in franchise history. They have won 11-straight regular season games dating back to 2022.’
The next home game will be Sunday June 11 at the
