Aces Top Phoenix
Our defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces won their fourth game in a row beating Phoenix 99-79 in a Wednesday afternoon matinee in Phoenix.
With the win, the Aces improved their league best record to 11-1.
The Mercury were without star center Brittney Griner, who was sidelined with a hip injury.
Vegas took full advantage of Griner being out, jumping out to a 32-19 first quarter lead and leading 57-40 at halftime.
Jackie Young has been playing lights out for Vegas this season and continued her tear with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 from the three point line and tallied five assists. Kelsey Plum added 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from three point land and A’ja Wilson did her thing with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Chelsea Gray chipped in with 11 points and eight assists and Candace Parker supplied eight points, six rebounds and six assists for the Aces.
Vegas now returns home for a five game homestand, starting with two games against Indiana, with a game this Saturday at 6pm at Michelob Ultra Arena and another game against the Fever next Monday at 7pm.
With the way the Aces are playing and with the additions of Parker and Alysha Clark, the team is a heavy betting favorite to repeat as WNBA champions. As of this writing, Vegas is anywhere from a -120 to a -135 favorite to repeat. For betting novices, that means at -120 you’d have to bet $12 to win $10 or $120 to win $100. We think it would be well worth it to jump on those odds now because as the team continues to win those odds will increase.
