Las Vegas Aces Back-To-Back Wins; WNBA Champs
It was a tough series and an exciting Game 4, but the Las Vegas Aces repeat as WNBA Champs beating New York 70-69. The fact of the matter was that the Liberty actually had a chance to win the game with a last second shot that hit the rim and bounced away!
The Las Vegas Aces are the first time to repeat as champs in the WNBA since the Los Angeles Sparks did it in back to back season in 2001 and 2002. Aces Aja Wilson was named Finals MVP after finishing third in voting at the end of the regular season.
According to an article from ESPN, Head Coach Becky Hammon said, “This one’s sweeter…”. Ending the regular season with a 34-6 record, the team went into Game 4 without two of their much needed starters.
Both Chelsea Gray and Kiah Stokes were out for Game 4. But Wilson and others stepped up when needed. Down at one time by as much as twelve points throughout the game, the Aces battled back. The lead exchanging hands quite a few times in those final couple of minutes.
Finals Aja Wilson finished the game with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Jackie Young wrapped up Game 4 added in 16 points and seven assists. All in all, it was a total team effort throughout the entire season. But more so in the Finals against New York. With two of your starters out, the Las Vegas Aces came together on the crowd on the road and picking up that all important series deciding game!
Of course now the plans for the celebration begin. Evidently the team is planning it for Monday, but no details at this point in time. A parade might seem a little tough to pull off at this time with all that’s going on for F1. However, there will be a celebration, it will be on Monday… just no details on the where and what time.
No matter… Congratulations to OUR Las Vegas Aces, WNBA Champions!
