I know what you’re thinking – pickle juice?! Yes, pickle juice! It’s an acquired taste, but drinking pickle juice can be beneficial to your health! And yes it can even cure a hangover, Drinking too much alcohol can dehydrate you. Electrolytes can help reduce some of those effects. “Drinking pickle juice as a hangover cure can help if it’s the electrolyte you choose.” So if you are going to turn up, open a jar of pickles, make sure  you save the juice!

The Department of Agriculture estimates that the average American eats 8.5 lbs of pickles a year. Pickles have been around since ancient times.

Here’s a fun fact:

When the Philadelphia Eagles thrashed the Dallas Cowboys in sweltering heat in September 2000, many of the players attributed their win to one thing: guzzling down immense quantities of ice-cold pickle juice. Well… A win is a win!

But seriously, Pickle juice has many positive and healthy components.  Camille Skoda, RDN, LD, IFNCP spoke to Health essentials and says “Your gut contains many bacteria species that are beneficial for metabolism, overall health, digestion and fighting sicknesses. They’re also linked to less anxiety, depression and better mood.”

according to webmd.com not all the health benefits of pickle juice has been tested in a scientific setting. However the research that has been conducted has produced promising results. I wish I had this information when I played college football at U.C Davis because my freshman year was the year of cramps!

Now if you don’t particularly like the taste of pickle juice there’s many ways to disguise the strong taste.  You can use it as a salt substitute, a marinade, add it to sauces and dips, or a salad dressing. by mixing pickle juice with those things you can mask the strong taste. You may think this is crazy but look below and see why this is actually a good thing for your health.
