The Nevada Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is proud to partner with Beasley Media Group‘s Paws in the Park event!

What is the NSPCA?

The Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a local non-profit in Las Vegas that provides shelter, care and better homes for Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable pets.

According to its website, officials established the NSPCA in 1982 as Southern Nevada‘s original no-kill shelter.

The organization takes in over 2,000 dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets annually. They focus on “treating each and every animal in our care as an individual with a name, identity, and unique personality.”

And the goal of the NSPCA is to provide their animals with loving homes where they can thrive, provide kinship and have a rewarding relationship with their human family.

Las Vegas' Annual Dog Daze Of Summer Is Coming

Las Vegas dogs of all sizes can beat the heat and enjoy a fun-filled morning of splashing, canon balls, and dog-paddling at the Desert Breeze Aquatic Facility during the 17th Annual “Dog Daze of Summer” event. Every dog has its day and that day is Saturday, Sept. 10.

You’ll be singing “Who Let The Dogs Out” by The Baha Men as dogs compete for the title of  “Tallest Dog”, “Shortest Dog”, and “Best Dog Trick”. Speaking of dog tricks, have you seen this?

Don’t have a dog? There are plenty of adorable local dogs waiting to find their forever homes. Scroll below to learn about a few Las Vegas pet adoption/rescue places you can visit.

Already a pet parent? Be sure to stay mindful of these hot summer days as you take Fido on a walk or take them along in the car doing errands.

The hot concrete or asphalt can burn your pets’ paws. Some signs of burned paws include darker-than-usual paw pads, missing parts of the footpad, blisters or if your dog is limping or refusing to walk. If your dog also licks and chews on its paws then this can be a sign of burned pads, too.

What should seem like obvious advice… PLEASE, do not leave your pets alone in hot cars. This guy learned the hard way:

    Cartoon Character George Jetson Is Breaking The Internet

    The internet was in shock and in celebration  after a social media user shined light on a particular birthday.

    The internet has been blowing up this week as fans have been pointing out what is thought to be George Jetson‘s date of birth… July 31, 2022.

    If that’s true then mathematically, The Jetsons took place in the year 2062.

    It’s definitely an interesting concept that we’re now celebrating the birthday of our favorite cartoon character from the past. Social media users joked about the cartoon character’s birthday and even reminisced about the classic cartoon that served as the foundation to many of our childhood memories.

    The Hanna-Barbera produced cartoon about a futuristic family named, “The Jetsons” was intended to be a counterpart to the already established stone-aged family, “The Flintstones“.

    The Jetsons family consisted of George Jetson as the head of the household, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, son Elroy, and their dog Astro. This cartoon served as the perfect example of Americana culture and gave insight into the quintessential “nuclear family” with a futuristic twist.

    According to his character’s biography on Hanna-Barbera Wiki, George Jetson is a 40 year old loving family man who always seems to make the wrong decision. He works full-time, 15 hours a week at Spaceley’s Sprockets as a computer engineer.

    The Jetsons premiered in prime time on Sunday night September 23, 1962 with 24 original weekly episodes then made the move to Saturday mornings for the 1963-1964 season. It was the first television show to be broadcast in color on ABC.

    It wasn’t until 1985 that additional episodes were produced. In 1990, Universal Pictures released a full-length feature film to serve as the show’s finale.
