Fans Enraged After Lovers And Friends Cancelation: Here’s Why
Yes, not even 12 hours before the event was to take place, people heard about the Lovers And Friends cancelation due to the weather.
The one-day festival was supposed to take place at noon on Saturday, May 4, at the Las Vegas festival ground. This was set to be a music lovers’ dream with headliners like Mary J. Blige, Usher, Janet Jackson Brandy, Alicia Keys, and if you have a favorite artist from the late 90s to early 2000 they were gonna be there.
Lovers And Friends Drama Since The Beginning
Now, this festival has been filled with drama since day one. Artists like Lil Kim, Mary J. Blige, and Monica announced that they weren’t on the lineup even though they would be promoted as performers for the show. Eventually that all came together, and they actually were re-added to the flyer and were scheduled to perform.
A lot of the fans would complain because all the performances would be back-to-back. Many were saying that they would have to be running back and forth across the festival grounds to see their favorite artist. It should be a two-day festival. Even from the jump, the launch was rescheduled because of COVID-19, granted it was a pandemic, and there’s nothing that could do about that, but it just seems to have had bad luck from the beginning.
Even the first year when it was launched, it was temporarily shut down after audience members thought they heard gunshots and folks were running for their lives. It turns out that it was a public panic, and the festival ensued after a momentary break.
But I have to say last year went without a hitch. It had Mariah Carey, Usher, and about 40 other major artists. It was a great show, although people were complaining about the heat and about the set time being too close as well.
The Real Reason For The Lovers And Friends Cancelation
In an Instagram post from the official Lovers And Friends page, organizers said, “Saturday’s Lovers and Friends Festival at the Las Vegas Festival Ground has been canceled. Organizers have been monitoring the weather for several days, and proactively preparing for a Windy Saturday. However, the National Weather Service has now issued a high wind warning, with gusts potentially more than 60 miles per hour.

I just feel extremely bad for the fans who spent money on these tickets because these tickets were not cheap. Along with that a lot of people flew in from around the world and spent money on accommodations. My heart also goes out to anybody who was working the festival, and the organizers who spent countless hours planning, only to deliver the heart-wrenching statement to cancel.
Let’s face the hard truth, When it comes back next year, it will sell out once again, and we’ll be in there!
