Angel Reese has her work cut out for her. She has been a double-double track this season, but will her train stop against the two-time defending champion A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces? Angel Reese is a rookie who many might say is a rebounding machine. While A’ja has proven why she is decorated with so many awards.
According to WNBA.com, “Wilson has scored at least 20 points for the 14th consecutive game, setting a new WNBA record. She also became the third-fastest player to reach 4,000 career points only behind Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart.”

I normally don’t compare rookies to vets, but since the WNBA is a hot topic and the Aces are the Champs while having probably the best player in the game today on the team, I feel we need this. Aja Wilson vs Angel Reese is made for TV. While Angel is not as polished offensively or defensively as Aja ever was, she is still putting up great numbers as a rookie so let’s compare.
As a Rookie, Wilson averaged 21 points 8 rebounds, and almost two blocks per game in 2018. She was voted Rookie of the Year and made the all-rookie team.

She has numerous other accomplishments over the years but I’m just sticking to the rookie seasons. She stands 6’4″ weighs in at a solid 195 pounds and is truly the most dominant center today. As a rookie, she earned respect early and shot 44% from the field and 77% from the Free throw line.

In comparison, Angel Reese averages 13 points and 11 rebounds and at 6’3″ she doesn’t block many shots and she shoots 40% from the field and that’s mostly layups because she really can’t shoot a jump shot like Wilson can. What makes this a must-see TV matchup is the “IT” factor Reese brings. She’s a rookie with a college championship recently, with swag, and a fan base like a cult! The CHI Barbie has heart and what she lacks in skill she makes up for by playing with fierce competitiveness and relentless energy every time. She is a young walking double-double machine.
Both of these women have brought light to the game that so desperately needed it and anyone who enjoys women’s basketball should be in for a treat anytime these two play each other. It’s like teacher vs student or big sister vs little sister. Anytime Angel Reese faces A’ja Wilson, Expect a huge crowd and a lot of action.
