Former Bishop Gorman Grad Getting High Praise In The Pros
A first round draft pick for the Chicago Bears and already, the former Bishop Gorman graduate is getting high praise in the pros.
Taken in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft by the Bears, wide receiver Rome Odunze out of the University of Washington is being applauded by his own teammates!
His family moving from Orem, Utah to Las Vegas when he was very young, when it was time for high school, Odunze enrolled at Bishop Gorman High School. Playing football there, he was ultimately named Nevada’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year in his senior year. Looking to play in college, he committed to the University of Washington
Earning high honors at the college level, the Las Vegan was quickly the target of a few NFL teams. Lucky enough, the Gorman graduate ended up as a first round pick for the Bears.
Former Bishop Gorman Grad Excelling In The Pros
In an article put out by Sports Illustrated, the rookie wide receiver is already garnering high praise from his teammates! Mostly from veteran wide receivers on the team! Teammate Keenan Allen actually admitted that the rookie is better than he was when he came into the league!
High praise coming from a 6 time All-Pro receiver. Other Chicago teammates are giving the former Washington Huskie the same type of accolades as well. It might have something to do with Odunze’s work ethic, which has been a strong characteristic throughout his years in high school and college.
Would it have been a better situation to play for his hometown Raiders, don’t know. But that would have been pretty nice for the fans. With the schedule already out for this season, doesn’t look like he will make it to Allegiant Stadium anytime soon.
Guess we will all just have to watch his games on television for now. But the good news is that things are already looking up for the Rome in Chicago. Good luck to him this season…he’s earned it!
