1st Annual Back-To-School Historic West Las Vegas Education And Community Celebration And Parade

Jammin’ 105.7’s morning show host, DJ Thump, along side community activist, Nedra Cooper-Scott from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. hosted the first annual back-to-school parade in the historic west Las Vegas area.

The parade took place on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. The parade started in the parking lot of Wendell P. Williams Elementary School, located at 1030 J. Street, Las Vegas, NV 89106 and ended at the Edmond Town Center, located at 1021 W. Owen Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106.

The motto for the parade was that, “It takes a village to celebrate and educate a child!”

Education is one of the most valuable tools that schools can provide our youth as it is the key to an everlasting opportunity. Being taught new skills helps improves one’s critical and logical thinking which in theory allows the individual to make well thought out decisions on their own.

Our society can be directly impacted by the education that is taught. Having well rounded people better provides for service and vigilance in our neighborhoods. Communication and understanding culture are great benefits from education while creating a more accepting society. Gaining a vas amount of information helps individuals secure a career in a field that they gave knowledge on. In turn that helps promote career advances and more monetary income. Having education allows others to teach others about ideas in life which helps broaden more lives.

We at Jammin’ 105.7 are making steps to get more involved in our community to raise awareness on the importance of education and the development of creating a better community for all. We appreciate everyone who came out to support Wendell P. Williams Elementary and all that it stands for.

SHOUT OUT to all of the kids and their parents who walked the parade. See photos from the fun celebration below:
