After 4 Years, Beloved Vegas Woman Lesly Palacio’s Killer Finally Found In Mexico
A beloved Las Vegas woman named Lesly Palacio was murdered in 2020. Four years later, her family and friends may finally see justice after authorities arrested her alleged killer in Mexico, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
On Sept. 9, 2020, LVMPD, Moapa Tribal Police, and Red Rock Search & Rescue found Palacio’s body near Valley of Fire State Park. Police listed 25-year-old Erick Rangel-Ibarra as the main suspect in Palacio’s murder, LVMPD said on X (formerly Twitter).
Lesly Palacio’s Killer Evaded Police For 4 Years
Police said that authorities took Erick Rangel-Ibarra into custody in Mexico. He will remain there until a decision is made on his extradition to the United States. This could take months or years due to the extradition policies.
Lesly Palacio was a beloved Las Vegas woman who was 22 years old when she was murdered. Palacio and the suspect, Rangel-Ibarra, went out for a seemingly night out. According to an in-depth report by crime YouTuber Kendall Rae, Palacio and Rangel-Ibarra stopped at the Longhorn Casino & Hotel to start the night. Cell phone records show Palacio’s location at a few different bars throughout the night before heading back to Rangel-Ibarra’s place. However, after Palacio didn’t contact her family or answer calls and texts the morning after, her family became concerned.
8 News Now further reported that video footage showed Rangel-Ibarra and Palacio returning to his home around 6 a.m. Video recording further showed that around 7 a.m., Erick and his father Jose Rangel allegedly came back outside and carried Lesly’s body in a bedsheet into Rangel-Ibarra’s truck.
The Palacio family filed a missing persons report, but then the Rangel-Ibarra family also filed a missing persons report around the same time for Erick Rangel-Ibarra and his father, who were nowhere to be found after Lesly’s disappearance. 8 News Now reported that in February 2021, authorities apprehended Jose Rangel at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“Rangel pleaded guilty to destroying evidence and being accessory to commit murder in the death of 22-year-old Lesly Palacio,” 8 News Now said. A judge sentenced Jose to two years in prison. However, Jose was released after less than nine months.
After nearly four years of having no answers about Erick’s whereabouts, this has now changed due to Erick’s capture in Mexico.
Domestic Violence, Femicide Becomes Disturbing Trend In Las Vegas
Along with the arrest of Erick Rangel-Ibarra, police also arrested Alejandro Cisnero on July 24 in connection to the death of 28-year-old Alondra Rivera, Law & Crime reported.
“A 36-year-old man in Nevada has been arrested and accused of killing his girlfriend, who was on the hood of his car when he allegedly accelerated and stopped multiple times as he tried to throw her from the vehicle,” Law & Crime reports.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said they took Cisnero into custody and booked him for open murder.
Another case of a young woman being murdered is Tabatha Tozzi, who died at 26 years old last year, according to multiple media outlets. The death of Tozzi gripped the Las Vegas community and shocked many people.
In a video from Channel 13, Tabatha’s mother said “When she passed, a lot of people say the light of Las Vegas turned off.”
Her accused killer Oswaldo Nathanahel Perez-Sanchez is still on the run, and he’s on the FBI most wanted list. If you have any information about Perez-Sanchez’s whereabouts, please contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
