Aces A’ja Wilson Leads Team USA to Win Over Nigeria
The USA Women’s Olympic basketball team won their 50th straight Olympic game with an 81-72 win over Nigeria in their first game of the tournament. A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces led the way for Team USA with 19 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Brittney Griner added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Diana Taurasi scored 10 points for Team USA. The USA women’s team win streak dates back to the 1992 Olympics and the Americans are going for their seventh gold medal in a row. Team USA’s next game is Friday against Japan.
Syd "Mr. Syd" Gaddy is the midday host, 10am-2pm on KOAS, "Jammin’ 1057." Syd has been with Beasley for 10 years and just last September was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. "Mr. Syd" has been in the broadcast industry for over 24 years working as on-air talent, public service announcement coordinator and as a program director. Syd is a sports fanatic and works part time for the local Vegas newspaper in the high school sports department and loves to focus his posts on local Vegas sports teams and happenings.
