Aces Open Playoff Series Tonight
The Las Vegas Aces won the Western Conference championship which gave them a double bye into the playoffs. After the two opening round sets of games the Aces now know their opponent for a best three out of five semifinal series.
Vegas will play the Phoenix Mercury starting with game one tonight at 7pm at Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay. Game two will be Thursday evening at 7pm, also at Michelob Ultra Arena.
Phoenix finished in fourth place in the Western Conference with a record of 19-13 and is the fifth seed in the playoffs. The Mercury beat New York 83-82 last Thursday to advance to the semis.
The Aces come into the playoffs relatively healthy with center Liz Cambage having returned to the team last week after a bout with Covid. Vegas will have it’s hands full though with Phoenix and their all star center Brittney Griner along with their dynamic backcourt of Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith.
The other WNBA semifinal matchup pits number one seed Connecticut against defending champion Seattle.
