Raiders Christen Allegiant Stadium With Win Over Saints
After a season opening road win last week over Carolina, the Las Vegas Raiders were looking to open their new home, Allegiant Stadium, with a Monday night win. Standing in the way, the New Orleans Saints. Using a ball control offense designed to keep Saints QB Drew Brees and the rest of the Saints high octane offense off the field and overcoming an early 10 point deficit, the Raiders fought their way to an impressive 34-24 win. Tight end Darren Waller had a monster game with 12 catches for 103 yards and a TD and Josh Jacobs ran for 88 yards on 27 carries for the Raiders. QB David Carr threw for 282 yards and three TD’s and Daniel Carlson nailed a 54 yard field goal with 1:05 remaining in the game to give Vegas a 10 point lead. The game was tied 17 all at halftime and the Raiders game plan resulted in the Saints running only four offensive plays the entire third quarter. The Raiders are 2-0 and tied for first place with Kansas City in the AFC West division and their next game is Sunday, Sept. 27 at New England at 10am.
