Raiders Select OT Leatherwood From Alabama In First Round Of Draft
The Las Vegas Raiders selected offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood from Alabama with their first pick which was number 17 in the first round of the NFL draft. Leatherwood was an anchor at left tackle on the offensive line for the national champion Crimson Tide and won the Outland Trophy as the nation’s best offensive lineman. Leatherwood was also a unanimous first team All-American. He is expected to fill the spot left open by the Raiders’ trade of right tackle Trent Brown. The Raiders will have the 48th pick in the second round of the draft today and have picks 79 and 80 in the third round. In Thursday’s draft the first overall pick was quarterback Trevor Lawrence of Clemson who went to Jacksonville. Quarterback Zach Wilson from BYU went second to the Jets and San Francisco selected quarterback Trey Lance from North Dakota State with the third pick. In other NFL news, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he wants to be traded and listed the Raiders as one of the three teams he would like to play for.
