Caitlin Clark Suffers Devastating First Home Game Loss
With all the hype about Caitlin Clark coming into the WNBA as the first-round draft pick, it came with a lot of pressure. Indiana fans filled the arena to see the newest addition to the Fevers roster, with hopes of bringing a better season than last year. Well… If hope were bread crumbs we’d be starving like Marvin!
Caitlin Clark Struggles In Home Game Opener
According to Y! Sports “Unfortunately, Clark struggled in her second WNBA game, scoring only nine points in front of the home crowd (which included Iowa coaches Lisa Bluder and Jan Jensen).” She shot 2-for-8 from the field and 1-for-7 on 3-pointers, but she added seven rebounds and six assists in a 102–66 loss to one of the best teams in the league.
They are pressuring her, by putting a lot of body on her and she’s not used to that. Caitlin has to get in that weight room. She has to get stronger, and faster. She’s getting exposed on defense because she’s a liability with her foot speed, she’s really not that fast. They put her on the weakest person in college so she could use some of her energy on offense and save it on defense, but now. everyone is good, She has to play both sides of the court!

The Pressure That’s On Caitlin’s Shoulders
Watching Caitlin Clark play ball, she’s really looking like a rookie. There is a lot on her shoulders. You can recall Lebron James came out of high school with so much on his shoulders at 18. Caitlin is in that same situation except she went through college. The problem is, she didn’t ask for all of this attention. She was a great college player and a great system that allowed her to shoot the ball. Now she is playing against grown women who have mouths to feed. This is their livelihood. and they are not going to let you come and steal their thunder.
These women who have made a name for themselves and hearing all the hype about Caitlin Clark, they are going to test her by putting more pressure and exposing her weaknesses. She can’t shoot those 35 or 40-foot jump shots anymore because they are right there in her face. Clark is coming into the league with a 28-million-dollar shoe deal, and these women aren’t making 28 million in their careers, so they are definitely going to come at her.
I believe she will get better with time. I personally don’t think she will be a Candace Parker or a Sheryl Swoops, but in all reality, Caitlin did create a way for women athletes to make more money. Welcome to the WNBA Caitlin!
