Lakers Season Was A Big Mess, With Too Many Mistakes
If I had to sum up the Lakers season that just ended, it would be the same as how I would describe the last six seasons. In one word it would be…TRASH! I have been a Lakers fan since Magic Johnson, Kurt Rambis, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Cooper, and “Big Game” James Worthy, (aka the Pat Riley era).
Despite being a longtime fan, maybe I say that they’re trash because the Lakers are built for victory. They’re a win-now organization and Lebron James is supposed to be there to lead this team to victory. He’s been there for seven years and they haven’t won anything but a bubble championship, and I don’t consider that a real season.
What Went Wrong With The Current Lakers Season
The same thing that’s gone wrong since Lebron put on the purple and gold jersey in 2018, is the same thing that went wrong with the most recent Lakers season. They put talent around Lebron and shipped out all of the young players so that he could play with Anthony Davis. In my unprofessional opinion, if they had kept Brandon Ingram, they would have had a better chance of winning. According to Espn.com, the Lakers paid a steep price to partner Anthony Davis with LeBron James. A.D. stays injured, and when he is on the court he’s very inconsistent.
Will The Lakers Ever Win Another Championship
Again, in my opinion, Lebron James will never bring Los Angeles another championship. He’s 39 years old and it’s time for the team to move on and rebuild. The Lakers can’t buy a win if it was on sale.
Recent: Los Angeles Lakers Making Big Move To Las Vegas
According to Darius Rice, former NBA player with the Miami Heat, and former teammate of LeBron James with the 2007 Cavaliers, The Lakers led this current series with the defending champion Denver Nuggets for over 150 out of 240 minutes played. Denver only led for a total of 50 minutes and the rest of the time it was tied. There’s no way to win a championship with those stats.
Time For Lebron To Make A Serious Decision
There’s no doubt that Lebron James is a dominant player who continues to put up huge numbers. However, stats mean nothing if championships aren’t attached. After the 2024 Lakers season, it’s clear that it’s time for Lebron James to pass the torch. Perhaps go to San Antonio and build with Victor Wembanyama aka Wemby, the French 7’4″ power forward/center. who in my opinion is the next face of the NBA. He just does not have any help. Plus head coach of the Spurs, Greg Popovich, is the only coach Lebron respects and won’t fire.
With all of my ranting, and disappointments, I still choose to be a Laker fan for life. With or without Lebron James.
