After a funky four game losing streak the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels men’s basketball team have regrouped under first year head coach and former Rebel Kevin Kruger.

The Runnin’ Rebels won their third game in a row on Wednesday night, beating Nebraska-Omaha 84-71 in front of about 4,300 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Five players scored in double figures for UNLV, led by Bryce Hamilton with 26 points and Royce Hamm with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Rebels trailed 38-35 at halftime as they spent the first half cranking up errant three-pointers while not defending the three point line. UNLV settled down in the second half and turned up their defensive pressure, outscoring the Mavericks 49-33.

UNLV now gets a week off before playing their final non-conference game next Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 7pm against the University of San Diego at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Rebels open conference play on New Year’s Day with a 1pm nationally televised game against San Diego State at the Thomas & Mack.
