The Las Vegas Aces win streak was snapped at seven games as they took a 97-90 loss to Connecticut on Thursday night at Michelob Ultra Arena.
The Sun outscored the Aces 37-22 in the first quarter forcing Vegas to play catch up for most of the remainder of the game.
The Aces chances at a late comeback were stymied when point guard Jackie Young rolled her ankle early in the fourth quarter and had to leave the game and didn’t return. Later in the fourth point guard Chelsea Gray took a shoulder in the mouth during a collision with a Sun player and had to leave the game and get stitches.
Young scored a season high 26 points for the Aces before leaving the game. Kelsey Plum added 23 points for Vegas.
The loss was the Aces first home loss under new coach Becky Hammon, who was named the WNBA’s Coach of the Month.
The Aces next game is at home on Saturday vs Dallas at 3pm.
